Your future best mate - AGI?

What is AGI, are we there yet, and how far off we are from a future where your best friend might be an algorithm, without the sci-fi panic.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) has been around for decades. And we've been using it for just as long too.

But since November 2022, large language models (LLMs) and generative AI (with the launch of ChatGPT) have made us much more excited about it. A big thanks to the digital marketing era we live in.

A report by McKinsey highlights that advancements in AI technologies, especially natural language processing, are driving this renewed interest (2022).

Many are already predicting a future where your best mate is an algorithm. Yep, machines are coming for ya, mate. In a good way too.

I am not talking about a sci-fi takeover. Or Transcendence. Or Her. Maybe a bit like Her (if you know what I mean). It is about more AI though: something called Artificial General Intelligence (AGI).
